Jeff Mackey [jmackey@mackeytanner.com] Jeff is a finance and accounting recruiter with Mackey & Tanner. He received a BBA with a double major in Accounting and Finance from Texas A&M in 1987. Jeff worked in Arthur Andersen's tax department as a tax staff and tax senior from 1988 to 1992. After leaving Andersen, Jeff worked as a controller for startup companies for two years. In 1994, Jeff left accounting behind to become a financial recruiter with Source Finance. Jeff quickly became one of Source's top-rated recruiters nationally, and he was promoted to manage and lead the Houston Finance Perm team in 1996.
Source Finance was acquired by Romac International in 1998. Jeff remained a top-ranked recruiter and manager for the new Romac management team (who later changed its name to Kforce). Jeff decided to leave Kforce and form Mackey & Tanner with Frank Tanner in 2001.
Jeff has been a CPA in the state of Texas since 1992.
Frank is a finance and accounting recruiter with Mackey & Tanner. Frank is a graduate of Texas A&M, where he obtained his degree in Management and was a member of the Texas A&M Aggies baseball team.
Frank has over ten years of staffing industry experience focused in direct-hire recruiting for the finance and accounting field, spanning various industries. His previous experience includes working for Merrill Lynch as a financial consultant and Price Waterhouse as an auditor focused on the financial industry. Frank entered the recruiting field with Source Finance, which was a part of Source Services and eventually merged with Romac International (changing its name to Kforce). In 2001, Frank left Kforce and started up Mackey & Tanner, LLC with Jeff Mackey.
After growing up in the Spring area, Dennis served four years in a US Navy F-14 fighter squadron and then earned a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University. In 1996, he joined Service Corporation International in pre-need accounting. After leaving SCI in 1998, Dennis joined Texas Commerce Bank in the Collateralized Debt Obligations group. He served the eventual JP Morgan Chase Bank in several roles, including trust officer, trainer and vice president. In June 2005, he left JP Morgan Chase to join Mackey & Tanner as a recruiter of financial and accounting professionals. Dennis, his wife and two boys now live in the Cypress Fairbanks area of Houston.
Leslie practiced accounting for 11 years both in public and industry prior to starting her career in project-based staffing services. For the last nine years, she has been working with many of Houston’s largest companies providing accounting and finance resource solutions. Six of those years were spent with Robert Half International leading their Management Resources practice. In addition to client service, Leslie has developed a wide network of highly qualified project professionals that span a broad spectrum of experience. Leslie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting as well as a Masters of Business Administration in Finance.
David is a finance and accounting recruiter with Mackey & Tanner focused primarily on the energy sector. He received a BBA with a double major in Accounting and Finance from Texas A&M University in 1990 after growing up in the Houston area. During the first seven years of his career, David was employed as an independent auditor with Price Waterhouse, where he served clients in a wide range of industries (including technology, construction, manufacturing, energy, distribution, financial services and health care). From late-1997 through mid-2005, he worked at Enron in a variety of management roles including financial reporting, transaction structuring, investor relations and finance. Having worked with Jeff Mackey and Frank Tanner as both a client and candidate for over seven years, he decided to join the firm following his departure from Enron in June 2005.
Since joining Mackey & Tanner, David has expanded the firm's recruiting efforts to include front and middle office roles at some of the premier energy trading companies in Houston. David resides in the Clear Lake area with his wife and three sons and is also a former State of Texas CPA (1995 to 2007).
Daniel Luce is a graduate of The University of Texas with a degree in Accounting. He worked as a CPA for 9 years in the Oilfield Services industry rising to an Assistant Controller position with Oceaneering International. Dan joined Source Finance in 1986 and headed up its Houston operation until the Kforce acquisition in 1998. Dan joined Mackey and Tanner in 2004. In addition to his 14 years of recruiting experience Dan worked for 4 years with Smith Barney in their Sugar Land office as an Investment Consultant. Dan and his wife have two grown children and live in Fort Bend County.
John McGuire is the Director of Client Services for Mackey & Tanner’s Project Resource Division. He has a finance degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well as a MBA from Vanderbilt University. John began his career in corporate banking as a risk management officer and during this time obtained his CFA designation. He was then recruited into a commodity trading role with Sonat Energy where he focused on the natural gas market. When El Paso Energy acquired Sonat in 1999, John was selected as one of the first members of the newly created middle market origination division. In that role he managed the energy needs of industrial and municipal clients in the Southeast and Gulf Coast regions. After a successful career in the energy markets John transitioned into the staffing industry. He was a top producer at Robert Half International where he led their Management Resources division and worked as full time recruiter. John joined Mackey & Tanner in 2007 to help launch their Project Resource Division.
Tonya graduated from UH with a degree in accounting and was recruited to join The Minute Maid Company (a division of The Coca-Cola Company). She worked in general accounting, tax accounting and financial planning from 1990 to 1996. In 1996, she joined a startup group at Norrell Staffing, remaining with them until January 1998, when she joined Romac International as a financial recruiter. In 1999, Romac International purchased Source Services, which later became Kforce. She left Kforce in June 2001 to become a founding member of Mackey & Tanner, LLC. During her entire recruiting career, Tonya has focused on recruiting in finance and accounting.
Bryan has over ten years of staffing industry experience, providing information technology resource solutions that include full-time employee placement, staff augmentation (contract) and project-based services. His previous experience includes over 12 years working directly in the IT industry, beginning his career as a programmer working for private industry and then working for several national consulting companies, including Price Waterhouse and BSG Consulting, where he managed large-scale application development and ERP implementation projects.
A native Houstonian, Jamie graduated from Texas State University-San Marcos in December 2000 with a BBA degree in Management. She then worked for three years with SourceNet Solutions as an A/P Account Manager in College Station. Jamie moved back to Houston in 2004 and worked for TFI Resources where she established her relationship with Mackey & Tanner. In 2007, she joined Mackey & Tanner as a recruiter for the company’s IT division.
Lon is a career IT Recruiter with 16 years experience supporting first the New York City and now the Houston contract and full time IT job markets. An Ohio native, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH. His successful career started in NYC after a year of post-graduate study in the UK and continues after his relocation to Houston in 2004. Lon’s has effectively sold and supported IT staffing and project services to top and middle tier clients with a diverse history in placing both infrastructure and application/database development and support professionals. He is ITIL Foundation certified (IT service management and delivery) and a member of the Houston chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).
Brian is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Accounting. He moved to Houston in '92 and worked for a software development company for four years. Brian then made the move to recruiting, initially focused on accounting later moving into technology recruiting. He has been recruiting for seven years with three years focused on accounting and four years in technology. Brian has been married since 1994 and has a son born in 1999. His current focus is recruiting for the Information Technology department.
