The Senior Accountant will prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Responsibilities will also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
Essential Duties:
Address A/P and A/R questions and problems with job costing.
Correct inventory costing/pricing from A/P invoices.
Handle reclassifications and corrections to general ledger accounts.
Perform business line summary analysis.
Responsible for outgoing/incoming inter-company invoices.
Balance inter-company accounts at month-end.
Assist external consultants with SOX documentation, testing, and remediation.

The positions are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the monthly gross margin accounting results for several energy trading operations. These positions will be responsible for analyzing, reconciling and reporting the monthly operating results to the front office and provide meaningful variance explanations for significant differences. The positions will ensure that balance sheet integrity is maintained, and that intercompany balances are reconciled. Mark to Market accounting knowledge is a must.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare journal entries to record asset gross margin activities for generation assets, speculative trading, fuel accounting, and related hedging activities.
General accounting, journal entry preparation and month end close.
Read and interpret contracts and tariffs.
Perform analysis and communicate with the front and middle offices.
Knowledge and understanding of mark-to-market accounting and SFAS 133.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Accounting
Three+ years general accounting experience
Understanding of ISO's settlements is a plus
Journal entry preparation and month end close experience
General ledger account reconciliation
Advanced computer proficiency, particularly with Excel and MS Access
Experience reviewing and interpreting contracts and tariffs is a plus
Strong analytical skills and communication skills are required
Experience in the electricity or other energy industry preferred
Solid understanding of best practices and processes in energy marketing and asset related settlements and accounting preferred.
Position involves occasional travel.
